Acer: a space oddity
So one day I bought a license of XP(pro) a wanted to use it on my laptop. Acer aspire 1350, is the model, and is a nice old savvy laptop. Of course all well planned and prepared I started the installation, all went fine 'till I was ready to go online for activation of the OS, and was getting ready for driver downloads for that laptop. Of course one can lift an eyebrow when something isn't directly found, but with Acer it is really a joke! They provide a number of drivers to download but you simply have to guess what is needed for this laptop + they don't provide all drivers !!!??? The display driver is not functional, the bluetooth driver is not available etc..... The help desk is even more flashy; there's only support for recovery installation and not for full (new) installation. The system came with a OEM XP home edition OS. And Acer does not support ugrades or reinstallations of XP pro on it, although they advise XP pro for this (and other) laptop! So before one even consider for an upgrade/ full installation of XP pro/ Vista/..., check out Acer's drivers list AND their functionality.....
