Epson Printers
Generally speaking, can someone tell me how Epson printers compare in performance and quality with that of HP, Canon and others? I'm particularly concerned with printing photos. HP printers give me fairly good results, however in running off multiple copies of a family newsletter (8-pp per letter), I invariably end up with pages sticking together, out of sequence, etc.

I would appreciate any comments you have. Thanks.

Hi bagalot:

I use an Epson Stylus Photo R200 and an R220 with my Macs. I absolutely love them both. The feature I like best is the CD/DVD printing. It is awesome.

I use both these printers for photo printing as well and am extremely satisfied. I print off 45-50 8x10 Christmas letters every year that are mainly a collage of photographs and they turn out beautiful. I'm always surprised because they don't require a lot of ink.

Speaking of ink - that's the only disadvantage I find. When one cartridge runs out it IS expensive to replace it. But to me it is worth it because of the quality.

The only experience I've had with HP is that I had one of their first generation photo printers years ago .... (thing weighed about 20 pounds.) It worked well at the time.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my Epsons. Oh ... and my hubby uses an old 440 for his Windows system. It's obsolete but still kickin'.

Hope that helps.

Epson Printers
Thanks a lot for your response, Yankee Rose. That's encouraging news, and I definitely plan looking into Epson printers. Out of curiosity, are your printers fairly recent models?

Hi Bagalot: yes. The R220 is the most recent one. I bought it in December.

Good luck!

I have an Epson 880 that is about 4 years old and is now obsolete. BUT it is still working like a new one. The print and photos come out looking great. I would not hestitate to recommend an Epson to anyone. BTW, I use strickly generic ink and it is as good as OEM.
