Question New Computer
Hello,

I am getting a new computer soon and I don't have a lot to spend. I was wondering what brands I should or should not look for.

I've had emachines in the past and they have been good.

< That is one I was looking at. But I would install 1gb more of RAM.

I was also considering one of these two compaqs,

but I've heard many negative reviews of them.

I like my Acer, but I intentionally bought it before Vista came out.
I've had very good luck with no complaints.

Rollin'Rog ( a moderator) on the other hand bought an Acer with Vista and returned it.

I'd say do some online searches for reviews to get a fuller picture as Vista seems to display some issues with some models.

Go for the first Compaq. Mine is very similar (Except AMD Athlon 3800+) with XP MCE. I'd install at least one GB more RAM because of Vista.

Thank you for your opinion. I heard that 1gb was enough for vista though. But I guess if it is slow I could always install some more RAM.

Either one of those seem like a good buy?
