No, it's not you. TigerDirect has screwed me twice, but I learned something too. I bought a laptop from Office Depot on my credit card for my son with a $175 rebate. They sent him a note that he had not provided all the information, so they couldn't give him the rebate. He's an accountant, and he told me he gave them everything. So, he called, and they backed down, and sent us the rebate. TigerDirect sent me those reject notifications twice, but I shrugged my shoulders and didn't say anything because I didn't know what to say.

Then, just recently I bought a Hitachi harddrive, and they sent me the note saying I had not furnished them with all the requirements. I knew they were full of baloney, so I called them up, and they backed down.

Apparently, the rejection is a part of the game. Hey, if they can get 20 people out of a hundred to back down, that's money in their pockets. It's another racket. Gotta fight for it.

But on the good side, TigerDirect sent me a notification that I had not provided all the info, and that if I would provide it, they would send me the rebate . . . which I did. It was another big one . . . but then they sent two checks that were out of date, and so I had to send them copies of the canceled checks, and I'm still waiting.

I guess the best way is to make copies of everything, and when, and if, they try to stiff us, we got proof. But yeah there's a pattern emerging. It's not just TigerDirect. It's the rebate business. They must hate for us to remember to fill out the rebate forms. which is like going back to 3rd grade. Cut this out, paste it here. Sign here. etc. Disgusting, but I like the rebates so I do it.

Hope that helps capstick!

I agree with keeping copies of everything. I bought a Compaq desktop from Office Depot in September of 06. They notified me that they did not receive the information for 1 of the 3 rebates. Pretty humorous, being that all 3 parts of the information were required for the largest rebate.

I faxed the info in December and inquired in February. A fellow named "Mike" with an Indian sounding accent told me that they had not received the info. I re-faxed and inquired in 2 weeks. Someone else with an American name and an Indian accent told me that the info was not received.

I then used my computer to fax the information about 35 times. I got my rebate about 2 weeks ago.

It's not just the money, it's the principal of the thing. These companies just hope that you will give up and go away.

Precisely! But once we know the game, we too can play it! But they catch the innocent the first time around. That's a good idea to keep the faxes up. Inundate them!

Funny ... here in the UK, rebates are about as common as a certain organic by-product from rocking horses.

Even the McD 'Bottonless Coffee Cup' was dropped after a brief trial.

If I'm buying locally, I let the manager know that as of that purchase I'll not spend another dime until the rebate check has cleared, especially if he uses the rebate to try and close the sale.
If you stop spending money in the store that owes you a rebate, and be vocal about it; email once or twice a month with a list of items and dollars spent somewhere else, in this retail climate they start getting the picture.

Dell tried that crap with me and I sent them a copy of the receipt for the HP computer that was purchased instead of the Dell that I was talking with them about . They sent the rebate and gave me a $70.00 spend anyway you like credit. I bought ink.
