3 in 1 Printer purchase
Replacing a CX5400 Epson MFP...what brand of printer should I consider? OS is XP...
don't need fax capability but want it to print decent color photos... do not have/use
digital camera, so that feature is not important. The only rating I could find on the net rated the Canon MP510 @ $150 a good buy. Suggestions and comments on what others have would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome norgebob.
For what it's worth, I have had my share of 'all-in-ones'. It seems that two days after the warranty expired, the scanning properties on the unit failed thus rendering the complete unit useless. ( it now has a new function - a boat anchor )
I will never make that mistake again.

I have both a Dell (Lexmark) All-in-one and an HP 5610. Bought the HP because it has Linux drivers and cheaper (less expensive) ink than the Dell. They both work well. You can get the Lexmark for about $70.00 on ebay, if you careful. I paid 120.00 at Best Buy right before Christmas for the HP 5610.

Gee, really sorry to hear that. My HP PSC 950 (an all-in-one, print, scan, copy, fax, photo printer) which I've had now for coming up on 5 years now, has never given me a bit of trouble. I probably use it more for scanning than printing, too.

My preference leans toward HP, but with devices so cheap now (the supplies are a different matter, and you may want to consider that) I wouldn't worry too much about any of the more well known brands (HP, Epson, Lexmark, Canon, and Brother). I'd rather look for the features that I want.
