Consistent, Reliable Desktop?
'ello all. What with my laptop taking over most of my day to day work, my desktop has been moving more and more towards just being always on and doing all sorts of things that only a computer with a constant connection to the internet can do. It, however, is starting to give me the impression that it's not going to last me a whole lot longer, and I've already run into a few hardware quirks that I imagine will only get worse. So I was thinking about going ahead and getting a new desktop to serve this kind of purpose. I don't think I do enough to be looking into any sort of proper server. Just a desktop that needn't be a media powerhouse or manage real intensive multitasking or anything. Just something that can chug along for long periods at a time and do what it's been set up to do. Of course, it might get the occasional trip onto routine internet destinations or check Email once in a while for whatever reason, but I think you know where I'm going... Anyway, thoughts? I've been trying to just look at lower end desktop machines, and it's pretty hard to figure out which ones are priced there because they lack things like high end graphics, and which ones are there because their crucial components are shaky. The former is OK, the latter, of course, would be just the wrong thing for me. So, any direction would be greatly appreciated.

As a brief side note, I don't need an OS preinstalled, if it makes any difference. If one comes with the system, it'll promptly be formatted.
