Recommend a Printer
Sorry if this thread is in the wrong place! I am new to this forum m Hello!

Can anyone recommend an easy to use, not too expensive and economical on ink cartridges as I am sick of spending a fortune on ink! Also not to hard to use. I mainly use it for printing off some photos, and my daughter for her artwork.
Many thanks. mandy

Hi, I've been a user of HP printers for some time and have found they seem to go a longs ways in life. Had an old 600 series for 6 years and was still working when I upgraded.

They make some good photosmart printers, the newest is the D7460 I believe, about $200 but you can get others for well under. Would say go to Best Buy or a CompUSA and check them out for yourself.

Welcome to TSG. You may get greater exposure for your question if it were in the Hardware Forum. If a Mod agrees, she/he may move it.
I only print in black and so I could not cannot suggest a printer for you although I did use an HP 722C for years. Like you though, I finally got tired of paying ridiculous prices for ink so I began to re-fill them myself. Many of the newer ink printers now come with the very small cartridges and don't last long. You may want to search the web for a printer. Use Goggle and search for a retailer. Good luck.

I like Canon printers for their quality and separate ink, you have black, blue, red, yellow etc instead of one color ink and one black. Saves me some money!

I have used HP, Canon, Lexmark and Epson, the fastest, cheapest ink cartridges and the best quality I found is the Epson. Setup, control, preview, seem to be the easiyest with Epson for me. Just make sure for photos, you use the correct paper. Epson doublesided photopaper is the cheapest and best. For real quality pictures I use the expensive Kodak photopaper. Lexmark (I had 2), seem to eat ink and break down the easiest, constantly had to reset the printheads. Canon is ok, HP was slow, but it was an old one with fax still on it. I buy part separate, If the scanner goes, so seems to go everything. I don't like the all-in-ones. I mainly print pix of kids and grandkids and some scenery for framing and hanging on the wall/

n2gun,

I've gotten my refills from this same company in the past, gave up on them because the cartridge wouldn't work in my HP printer. They were good about reimburstment, but I had to pay postage.
Hope you have better luck.

over the years i have had lexmark & canon printers, but now i tried an epson stylus c87 & i found that it was reasonably cheap to buy & better still the cartridges are cheaper than the other 2 i mentioned,i print a lot of photos of my children to frame in my hallway,so i understand that prices of ink cartridges have to be cheap !!!!!!!!! p.s. the photos are printed really nice....

There's a new kid on the block called Kodak. Check out their printers or AIO's.
Cheapest ink and more copies per cartridge.
