Notebook Comparison
We've seen some nice deals from the Sunday papers for the holiday season. The last nice deal was a Compaq F730US with the following specs-

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...=41982&lang=en

The real question is what would the next level be-
What would be the next CPU you should look for and would that make a big differnce over the Athlon 64?
Drive size?
Better screen?
More memory?
What would these costs bring the machine up to?

Machine ussage is for work- writing programs, internet usage, movie watching, music downloading

Rule of thumb: Intel makes the most powerful processors money can buy. But to buy them requires a lot of money.

AMD makes damned powerful processors that are equally reliable, though their higher-end procs aren't as good as Intels. On the flipside, they give you a lot more horsepower per dollar.

The moral: If you're buying the highest of high-end, go Intel. Anything else, go AMD.

I guess my question is

What would be the most logical next processor with greater performance after a Athlon 64 x2 in either Intel or AMD?

To really notice a difference

Thanks
