I have been looking at some computers and am wondering what your thoughts are on this computer.

Refurbished means run as fast as you can! With new computers as cheap as they are, there's no reason to buy someone else's problems! Plus, it's not that great a deal anyway.

thanks, will.
I have priced these all over and they run for a referb at $599 to about $900 new. found them at circut city for $711 new. out the door.
I have tried to put togeather a build with about the same components and can not get any cheaper . close as i can get is a systemax for around $575 and it doesnt come with an operating system and the video card is 6.1version.
I will go to circuit city tomorrow and see if the have any store deals.
any other comments greatly appriciated.

That is the trick, hivelosity. When you're building your own machine you have to look at more than the up-front cost of building it. You also have to factor in the warranty coverage on all the components. At circuit city you'll buy a computer with a 1yr warranty and you can expect to pay $100-200 extra for a 3 year service plan. When you build your own PC, you pay nothing for that extra coverage because all the individual components typically have 3-5 year warranties from the manufacturer.

AND the manufacturer of the part will usually take better care of you than the retailer. My 2 year old Antec Smartpower 350 died on me a few months ago, and when I called Antec they sent me their newest model Antec Earthwatts 370 for free. (Mind you, when I bought this power supply at Circuit City they claimed manufacturer warranties suck and that I should buy their plan thing for it. Shows what they know.)

That all said:
My standing advice to people shopping for desktops is to build. If you know how to build, build. If you don't, learn from a friend and have them help you build. And when it inevitably breaks, and you start talking to the makers of the parts - who will help you much more than the shmucks who sold them to you - you can come thank me
