911 compatible cell phones (venting)
How is it possible that a Motorola Mercedes Benz cell phone made in 2003 is not 911 compatible? Just a little venting going on here so bear with me. I recently picked up a used Mercedes Benz Motorola V-60 cell phone(I believe this was approximately a $400.00 phone when new), a nice clean phone, everything works, all accessories I needed, including the original box, car charger, home charger, and manual. I have Verizon as a phone provider, so I went to take my old, old phone(which was older than 2003) off Verizon, and put the Mercedes phone on my account as my new phone. Well, here is what I was told by Verizon, " Your Mercedes Benz Motorola V-60 phone is not 911 compatible", and thus is not available for phone service. Now, I`m all for new technology, but you have got to be kidding me. So, anyone out there thinking of buying a used cell phone, beware, and check out all the things your provider requires your phone to have to access service. Now, don`t get me wrong, I didn`t pay a lot for this phone, and I just figured the original owner just upgraded since all functions of this phone work. I guess it`s just my bad, but if Motorola wasn`t making their cell phones 911 compatible in 2003, some one needs to be fired.
