I,m contemplating the switch to cable internet. The diffence in price is app. 5$;
the difference in performance is like impulse vs. warp drive. Well, so says
comcast cable
Anyone care to share experiences; hidden cost, speed claims, customer
service etc.

DSL provided speeds will generally depend on your distance from the main telcom switch.I believe that 18,000 feet is the max supported,and of course,the further away you get the the slower it will get.
Cable did not seem to have that issue,but of course that can depend on how old the fibre into your neighborhood is and how many people on that server,pehaps causing a bottleneck at certain times of the day.
Given my experiences with both,I have DSL now,I would lean toward the cable option.
If any of your neighbors have comcast,ask them.Nothing like real life neighbor experiences to rely on.
Good luck

Thanks for reply. Verizon dsl po'd me when they changed my plan with the
subsequent serous drop in speed. The price goes up: the service goes down!
What a concept! Anyway, as Plato says "It's better to light a candle...".

It was clearly always faster than the fastest DSL available around here, and generally pretty reliable. If you live in a densely populated urban area, you may have slowdowns during peak usage times, typically in the evening after around 5PM to about 9-10PM.
If FiOS is an option, this is a "no-brainer", at least for me.
