strange incompatability
I recently bought a new pc and monitor.the pc is a lenovo k220. the monitor an LG flatron, w1953t,

shortly after getting it all set up and online,i downloaded a software product that i'd been using on my former pc for years with no problems. it happens to be the talking alarm clock which one can find at cinnamonsoftware.com

the product itself is excellent..no spyware,adware,malware,underware,etc..

but strangely enough, there was something that was incompatable regarding the existence of both the talking alarm clock and my cdrom in the same machine. once i downloaded the alarm clock program,my cdrom began to act erratically.wouldn't write or even recognise a blank cd was in the drawer.when i attempted to play a pre-recorded(store bought) cd,the cdrom would begin to spin the cd so loudly that it sounded as though the rom was going to fly out of the machine and take off for outer space..or assault me..or both.

i have an idea it was what..a driver incompatability?? well..i deleted the program using the 'add delete programs' and it was all good again.

the pc i was previously using was an intel pentium 4,windows xp fry's electronics brand(GQ)..i can't remember what the the motherboard was..i'm thinking phoenix technologies or something like that.

my current is a 64 bit ,lenovo, vista ( home premium),dual core pentium,,funny though..on the outside of the case,is a sticker that denotes that themachine has vista basic installed.but another sticker, the one that has the pc product key# claims that vista home premium is installed.

i just thought i'd mention all this cause i thought it was pretty strange that a talking alarm clock program would horn in on my cdrom performance.out of curiousity, anyone have an idea or answer as to why this occured?the mysteriousness (mystery?) of it is still in my mind on the backburner.

Not sure what would happen to make the program mess with your cd-rom. Will the website list Vista as being supported it doesn't however say whether is supports 64bit or not. I'd contact their support via e-mail and ask if the program supports 64bit.
