Cool shopping for a good LCD monitor
I would like to change my old IBM 21 in. monitor (crt) for a newer LCD monitor. My computer is a little outdated now; it's 8 yrs. old but runs just fine and has a decent video card I think. (NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT) I'd just like a newer monitor. I like to do gaming. I appreciate quality, performance and even a bargain once in a while. Any tips on do's and dont's ?? What minimum specs. should I look for ?? What brands might be better than others ?? Thanks in advance for any help !!

I have several Samsung, an Acer and a Hanns-G - I would buy anyone of the brands again without hesitation - Go for price. All of mine are several years old, the newset 22" is Samsung couple years old. My personal preference is Samsung, just not crazy about their pricing.

I'm not a gamer, but would recommend 2-5 MS refresh rate on whatever you buy.

winos last bit was a good piece of advice, the refresh rate is really important to gaming. Even more so if you are into fast paced ones like FPS', get above 8ms and you'll notice significant smearing (some will call it ghosting) above 12ms and it will actually become a distraction that will hurt your games "feel". If I were looking for one right now I would want it down in the 4ms range.

I have had 2 HP monitors and will buy another before even considering anything else.

Excellent color and easy on the eyes.

I have 2 of These ... and I love them ... But I'm not a gamer.
The only monitor I could find without a glossy bezel to shine back at you or show finger prints.

I have a whole crop of the Hanns-G 19" monitors, they were cheap and have worked well for me.
