I have 2 computers: my regular PC, and a tiny netbook that I'm using now, since I cannot access you with the PC.

I've had the same username for many years - rosmari -. Though, on this netbook, I'm still greeted "welcome rosmari" as I open your site, the PC has stopped recognizing me. I do not want to register with a new name.

I e-mailed welcome@techguy.org a few days ago about this problem, but so far have gotten no answer.

Please help!

Are you able get to the log in page for the site from your PC and entering your "rosmari" user name and password?

Are you saying that your desktop will not allow you to input your username and password at all? If so, what is the error message you are receiving when you try to log in with your username and password?

You sent your first e-mail on June 19th, which I replied to asking for more details of the problem because you merely stated "I'm unable to log in; my username is rosmari". You did reply to that one and then I replied with a suggestion that you may be blocking the TSG cookies and to check on that, which YOU never replied to. Then a day or two later you sent a new e-mail as if we'd never had a discussion at all. I admit I didn't reply to that one because I figured it would just be ignored again.

Which browser (and version) are you using?

1) to cwwozniak: there is just one small field next to log-in; on the left it says usernaame and on the right it says password. I've put in my username - no luck; username + password; no luck; password

2) my PC browser is Opera 11.62; that's the only browser I use and have been using for years (netbook browser is Opera 11.51)

I don't know anything about Opera. Please try Internet Explorer and see if you can log in with that browser.

yes, indeed - no problem with Internet Explorer.

do you have any thoughts as to why my Opera browser refuses to cooperate? By the way, I did find the cookies list, and the TSG IS checked.

It would really be a nuisance if I had to switch browser whenever I contact TSG.

Are you sure cookies are enabled in Opera? I had to do some research but look under Settings - Quick Preferences and see if "Enable Cookies" is checked.

Yes, all the cookies are enabled.

Perhaps I should mention that, 2 or 3 weeks ago, I had upgraded my browser to Opera 12.00 final, because I'd had problems with the default " on 11.62. I did that on instruction of someone at Opera Forum. The upgrade did not solve the problem, besides created some new difficulties, so I went to "System Restore", to restore Opera 11.62. Which it did, but evidently not perfectly.

I really would prefer not to fool around with System Restore again. Do you have any suggestion?

Did you try clearing your cache in Opera?

To clear all cookies and cache, go to Tools > Delete Private Data in Opera. Under Detailed Options, check the boxes next to Delete session cookies, Delete all cookies, and Delete entire cache and click the Delete button.

To clear individual cookies, go to Tools > Delete Private Data in Opera. Under Detailed Options, click Manage Cookies. Enter forums.techguy.org in the search field and click Delete.

our instructions were very clear - thank you.

I followed them verbatim,and for good measure restarted my PC - to no avail. I do get the TSG site, but when I click log-in, there is just one little field after username and nowhere to type in my password. And of course no "welcome rosmari".

I don't know much about Opera, but your version of Opera might be corrupted. You could upgrade to Opera version 12.00?

that sounds like an opera specific problem
uninstall Opera & reboot, then install it again
it sounds like it has corrupted with the system restore
