Web Connection Change on 3/12
I've just changed the connection for the site and we're up and running ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, the Status site won't reflect the change for another hour or so... but since you're reading this, you probably already know we're up.

I was redirected there during an attempt to access the forums around 8:15 but not at subsequent attempts.

Hey Mike,

I just had a weird experience on Posting to a reply at Microsoft office cause when I hit the Submit Reply button, it went to a 404 error and the address was http:///newreply.php that sort of error was happening on every link on that page. I went Back and hit Post Reply again, and that time everything was working.

This has never happened before and I have not been able to duplicate it yet.

IE6 with all updates on Win98SE system running TSGcache version B2.

I also posted this in a thread on its own at Weird link problem when Posting Replies

forums2 got me in, but gosh it was frustrating to see that others were online (most of the random forum it seemed) and good ol' earthlink was not getting it.

I could actually get here using Sam Spade's "safe browser" but reading the source code on the page wasn't my idea of browsing.

OK Mike,

You got me. I was finally able to get to the sight by accessing forums2.techguy. (Actually I had to go to your home page then click on the "forums" link and it automatically directed me to the forums2.techguy).

Do I need to change some settings on my machine, ie: cookies, so that my Favorites link works or is this just a temporary problem? By the way since 'Rog is having the same problem and uses Earthlink (so do I), could it be on their end?

Just wondering.

No need to update your favorites.
Its that the new IP address is still spreading to DNS servers. Earthlink and Comcast have not gotten. It usually takes 3 days for it to spread to just about all ISPs, maybe 5 if TSG is unlucky.

ISPs are supposed to update their DNS at least twice a day (most at 5:30am/5:30pm Eastern), and also get dynamic updates throughout the day. However, being that the Internet is highly unregulated, many don't update nearly as often as they should. Now that it's past 6:00PM Eastern, it may be worth another try to see if you can get to http://forums.techguy.org/ again, although all links currently default to forums2. I'll leave it that way for at least another day or so just to be safe. Feel free to reply here with updates when specific ISPs get updated...

Mike,

Earthlink must have updated their DNS as you said since everything appears to be back to normal on my end.

Thanks for the upgrade, it's seems to be much faster.

Not on my west coast end. I just changed the shortcut properties -- but what's the difference anyway? They both get as far as hop 15 here, but only forums2 goes all the way. One resolves the address correctly, the other does not?
