I'm very new to this but my question is why my ip address keeps changing i went to shields up as i read in one of the forums great relief on my part but went back again to show my wife and it showed a different address should i be worried?

If you have dial up them each time you connect you well get a new address.

It keeps changing because are being allocated an open IP by your ISP everytime you connect.

Even "always on" connections are going to refresh at some point and get a new IP address, unless you have contacted your isp and specifically requested (and more than likely pay extra)a Static IP, which will be allocated to you for your use only.

randy thanks for helping clear that up for me a few days ago pop-up says i have a Trojan horse could not repair i had know idea what that even was so i changed firewall and anti virus the found my horse an removed it i got this computer used (bad mistake on my part) who says blunt headiness don't teach you any thing! It is a dinosaur HP 500 MHz 255 ram 16gig when i got it it had windows 98 and windows xp pro on it the latter wasn't paid for i soon found out when i went to windows up date. now no more 98/ its got xp home on it now paid for thats when i found TSG all of you have been a savor to me i tweaked ever thing it runs very nice now after changing firewall&anti virus it is 5 times faster and thanks to a TSG tweak Internet explorer is faster than net scape.
