Bring Back Post Count?
After reading some opinions, I'm almost swayed to go back and have the post count with the percentage... Your thoughts?

I like the idea of both the percentage and the post count being shown.

Of course I agree with you Mike! So my posts are mainly non-techie and in random...I'm still an active participant of TSG. Take care. angel

Hi Mike
I would like both included. If a new person posts around 20 posts and they are all in a tech forum they will show up as 100% tech. This would indicate to others who only see that number that they have a lot of tech knowledge when they might just be asking questions. I have seen some posts go to over 50 replys from the original poster when they are seeking step by step instructions.

Include the post count. For most members, posting percentages don't really begin to stabilize until about the 500-post mark. After 1000 posts, they change very little. Those who want more information than just one number for %, are welcome to look at the Simplified Posting Profiles at the bottom of http://www.oscar51.net/tsg/tsgrpt7.html Here are a few examples (sorry about the old/low post counts; I did not update the data set to generate these profiles):

I see what you mean Oscar. When you did that report, i was at under 4500 posts, and about 70% in Tech.

now, after about 600 more posts, i'm still there.

PH: Out of 15,930 posts I've made, 460 (2.9%) have been in a technical forum. I'm not a techie either! See the posts I made in the tech forums were mostly questions...but sometimes I answered a problem! Take care. angel

Then there's you: Out of 1,008 posts, 270 (26.8%) have been in a technical forum. You ask more questions in the tech forums or answer more than I do!

Speaking both as a 'member' and as a 'moderator' the ease of finding past posts by clicking on the post link by a member made much quicker work of finding duplicates, related problems or system information when the info wasn't included directly in the original post. Having to go through the "profile" page makes it a bit more awkward.

Mike:
When I first started here, in the tech sech I did use total posts as a guide to good advice, and was a little put out when I stumbled on Random and found those with huge #s probably earned there.
Tech questioners should know the experience of their answerer. (at least the experience as a poster)
