Downtime Tonight
Well, I have no idea what caused it... but the database got corrupt. We're up and running again now, though, after far too many hours of repairing it! I honestly can't even remember when it went down now...

Hi Mike!

It went down about 6 hours ago. Thanks for the hard work and dedication. It's good to be back.

Thx for fixing it mike
Sweets and I were in chat about 10 minutes before it went down, and she complained that TSG was going really slow, then I got booted from chat and couldn't get in.

See, Mike? Spend all last night in TSG chat singing songs and TSG goes all to heck!! That'll teach you to slack off!

I realized that after forums.techguy.org wouldn't load and helponthe.net gave me a 404 error. I was wondering how that happened. How'd you repair the DB?

HexStar

P.S. I bet it was those hacking kids that once before hijacked your site.

After trying all of the easy stuff first, it was a painful process of exporting the WHOLE database and then bringing it back table-by-table... lots of fun, but it worked!

Geese, if I were you I would go to bed now and relax. That sounds so stressful.

Hi ....

The page listing the Forums came up just fine, but when I clicked on "Downtime Tonight" to find out what'd happened, the computer locked up. Had to hit reset.

That "most users ever" doesn't seem to have taken place any time near the trouble, so I doubt it's related... although pretty sweet anyway!

Gary, might want to do the regular checks for spyware and updates... nothing should be able to lock up your computer!

Its good to see its back, though you must be tired, as its 9am here, I have no idea what time it is there.

Also, I hit the roof when it happened. Spent ages typing out a lengthy reply to someone, hit Submit, gone. Luckily, I'd copied it, as I always do for long replies

I've noticed its a bit slow this morning, but thats to be expected. But, then it may be the works server.
