Curious about this sites hardware.
Is there a link to a page somewhere on this site that has all the hardware/software specs and pictures for all the equipment it takes to run this site?

I've always wondered what it takes to run something like this site.

How many connections can this server handle?
And how does the server connect to the internet?
What kind of backups do you do and what media do you backup to?

I don't have any official list or picture in the official server room, but here's a good deal of information, if you didn't see it already: http://forums.techguy.org/t154395/s.html

We've had almost 3000 people on before the last upgrade, but I'd bet that we can now handle a great deal more than that. We're connected to a handful of T1s (shared with a few other servers!) and do backups onto IDE removable hard drives that are kept off-site.

Appreciate the reply!
I'm interested to know how you backup, do you ever image the drive? What backup software?
won't bug you anymore today!

Just wrote a little .sh file that runs a mysqldump and tar... Nothing too fancy. That's the way I like to do backups, though -- nice and clean. The more complicated you get, the more likely they'll fail when you least expect it.
