Loggin in
Hi all. Very new to Tech Support Guy, so apols if I'm missing something mind-numbingly obvious. I remember when signing up that I chose not to log in automatically. I expect I could change this if I wanted to, but I don't I want to be able to get here, see if there's anything in my area and if so *then* log in. I only see a log out option at the top of the page. Also, there's no "search previous posts with keywords"?

Any advice gratefully received.

TIA,
Andy

Hi XL Guru: I operate all the time like your suggesting you want to. There is a Log in box at the bottom of the http://forums.techguy.org/ page, but if I don't want to go back to that page, I click on Post Reply or New Thread and accept the "looks like you haven't registered" message box to log in. It's not terribly convenient, but it works -- as you no doubt have discovered by now.

Oscar51,

Thanks for the feedback.

"click on Post Reply or New Thread and accept the "looks like you haven't registered" message box to log in"

is exactly what I'm doing. But then you lose the post. Finding myself copying the post to Word so I can then ref back. Also by that stage I've lost the poster's name ; it's hard enough remembering my own sometimes

Rgds,
Andy

Double doh!! How dense can 1 person be? There it is, further down the page, never even thought to look.

Thanks Oscar51, you solved "my problem".

Andy

Don't feel so bad. I remember the day of my epiphany when I discoved that the post I was replying to was below the box where I was typing. I was too ashamed to ask how long that had been there and just pretended that I had known it all the time. After all, I have a reputation to uphold here at TSG. BTW, I routinely compose my replys in a text editor first to avoid getting timed out....
