I can register and log in to the Beta upgrade of this website but I cannot post, edit, subscribe, or do anything else without logging in again, and again, and again, ..., and even then I cannot post because I get a message that says "No forum specified". So I'll post my comments here.

1. I hope this next upgrade runs faster than the current version. When you activated the version being used now, everything (e.g., initial loading, moving from page to page) slowed down for me by a factor of two, at least, compared to the version previous to the current one. Or is that just your server getting bogged down with 20K+ registered users?

2. I suggest you drop the "Random Discussion" forum. It serves little purpose other than to act like a Newsgroup, one of many abominations on the Internet. (Other abominations would be Java, ActiveX, QuickTime, popups, chat rooms, AOL, ...) It also is a temptation for users to waste time when they should be asking/answering technical questions. (Am I sounding like a Dutch Uncle, or what?) And it must be costing you system resources better allocated somewhere else. If you keep "Random Discussion", modify the software so that every time someone posts to it their total post count goes DOWN, not up. And down by 10, not just 1. Make it hurt...

3. I would prefer some colors other than lavender and teal (the current ones) as background and highlight, but that's just a personal thing...

Lightbulb I just had to log in
to post in this thread as I did in the thread I posted to earlier.

I had not had that trouble till tonight but I had this comp shut down for most of the last two days so I didn't think anything was strange about it the first time.

I have noticed that my drive runs for a while lately before I get response from a keystroke some times.

I wondered at first if it was only a problem with Oscar using Opera but I didn't get the 'no forum msg. Now I will have to see if I am having problems with this site that I don't have elsewhere.

{maybe Oscar is just being punished for 'mean thoughts' and wanting people to be hurt.

Bob
