Question Solved: Junior to Member to Senior Too Fast
this was my original question but LaraMJ answered it

Quote:
Whenever you join your junior for about 3 weeks then you go to member for about 3-4 weeks then before 3 months from joining your a senior. I think you should be a junior and member for a longer time.

It's based simply on the amount of posts one has. It's not based on time. It also does not have anything to do with the computer experience one has, just how much one posts on TSG, in ANY of the forums.

It's a decent point though. Junior until, what, 10? Member until 30? Senior until 2,000

chris.

[edit]
Maybe it's 30, 100, 2,000? It's been a while.

At times the "status" of a member may be deceiving to a person seeking help.

I recently observed a post where a member with maybe 400 posts was trying to help a person with a problem. Apparently, his answers did not satisfy the "poster" and he or she stated something to the effect that he or she would wait for a mod or "distinguished" member for advice.

I know of one member who joined late 2005 and now has near 1800 posts, all seeking help, never providing solutions. At this rate this person will soon have the "status" of a "distinguished" member and barely knows how to turn on or shut down a machine.

TSG should note somewhere? that the "status" or the number of posts by a responder does not necessarily indicate the competence or experience of the responder.

PLEASE, NO PM's. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS IN YOUR THREAD. THANK YOU!

I will never understand why people spend a few hundred dollars on a video card or cards, then try to run their machine on a $30 power supply.

Don't be fooled by Power Supply Manufactures numbers. Advertised watts don't mean squat!
