I tried to donate through the secure form...and couldn't
I tried with two different credit cards and got errors with both of them. I ended up just doing it the paypal way but I thought it might be something you should look into.

Thanks for reporting the problem, and sorry for the delayed reply! There was definately a problem with our credit card processor -- everything should be fine now!

Yup, it should take about 24-48 hours (unless I'm out of town at the time -- then it may take a bit longer ), but yours is already active.
