to be a moderator
Hey everyone,

Out of curiosity cause i've never been a moderator of anything, what does it take to be a moderator? or how do they get selected if there're no postings looking for moderators. I'm curious as how things run behind the scenes.

It's like the Army, you'll get a draft notice, and you're in!

Seriously, they're selected by the board administration.

It's a volunteer thing. If they ask you, you can say yes or no to it. It does take someone who can be objective and follow rules, even if they personally dislike someone. It's also a job that gets a lot of crap by people trying to break the rules and then getting ugly when tney are reprimanded or removed. It's fustrating at times, but generally when a person accepts, they do so because they really think that the BB is good, is useful, and they want it to stay that way and are willing to help keep it that way.

Or, perhaps they're a glutton for punishment.

You had to bring up those pesky rules, didn't you?

Since I don't appear on the "Click here for more information about your Moderators!" link, I ignore that page.

I wouldn't want the job. I would have to go around and remove half of my own posts.

That would break my heart. It wouldn't do my post count any justice either.
