Just an idea here, don't know if it has been suggested in the past, maybe tried and failed....or ?

What does everyone (anyone?) think about a section for computer parts, trade, sell or free for the asking?

Lots of sites have those, nice idea, problem is you have the darn crooks out there. Was one in particular as of late, went my many names Matrix_Leader being the original. He defraud untold individuals out of goods. Problem was big at 3dfiles and AnandTech. Trading is great but not all parties can be trusted. At least that's my impression. Trading with someone you know works out. I bought a k6 2 500 from a guy in New York, had been hanging around on the net and quaking with him. I got what I bought and then some, he got his money. But unless I know who I am dealing with I am not going to risk it.

Yes, brianF, I had thought of that as well....

I guess what I had more in mind was all the spare parts I have collecting dust.....there must be people who can use them....

Perhaps a category for: Ask for it and it's yours......

I agree with AcaCandy. I'll take a spare computer so that I can mess it up without having to worry. Not really mess it up, but just screw around with it. Then, I could install linux on it, and take apart all the kernels, and be able to mess around in the BIOS without worry!

I'm sure there are lots of horror stories out there!
Mine was Russ Liesmer. Some how got the Card number from a suppose to be secure site and clocked up $1000.00 plus charges before the statement came and card was cancelled.
I do like the idea of Candys about dusty stuff to get rid of! Free is one thing; trades or money causes fraud.
Good transactions also abound since I purchased a Viao from an individual who has become a good I-net friend.
