My two cents worth

I suspect most if not all got involved due to a tech problem as has been stated before.

There are many here that then got sucked into the CD and Random threads. err like me.

I have minimal tech knowledge but still try to help others when it is something I can assist with. If you eliminate the CD and Random threads then what reason would come here unless I am having troubles? If there are only tech forums then I might check in once in a blue moon where as now I continually check for new threads and try to meddle and help somebody with a problem while waiting to jump on sombody in CD and Random

it was mentioned by Candy and stated before the idea of a pay site for the CD and Random sites which I think is a good idea and suspect if it was lets say $20 a year many would sign up.

The more I stick around here though the more I think the existing system is working pretty good. I would just remove the report buttons and let people duke it out. I am just dieing for the opportunity

Just look at the thread counts in RanDumb and CivDebate! Maybe we should get rid of the Tech Forums--they are detracting from the discussion forums!

Well then maybe we'll have to revisit that one members post about renaming TSG Talk Support Guy

This surely is the way forward in this situation, what an excellent suggestion,it must be possible to implement it surely, that only if you were paid up members would you be able to see the Random and Civ Debate forums ....this would stop any adverse publicity from outside sites giving opinions on how this site is run etc, because this is what caused the unrest in the first place,to members who do care about the reputation of this site....personally I dont visit Random often so I had to do a lot of reading to find what was causing the problem and it is there but only by the same few participants, sexual inuendos I think its called and it goes on,over and over again, some people dont want to see that, probably not even people taking part in the same threads, for me,most of Random is OK,and very informative from what I have seen ....

If we changed this place every time one member or even a group of members wanted things changed, we'd be changing it on a daily basis--trust me on that.

There are plenty of other tech support sites--we have always listend to people's comments and have have made a number of changes over the years--change can be both good and bad--at this point--when a recipe has worked, you certainly can tweak it but you don't start making wholesale changes because some people don't like the flavor--there are plenty of other dishes on the internet--I think ours is pretty damn good the way it is--it doesn't satisfy everyone--certainly I'd love to see some changes myself, but you live with a consensus.

Didnt realise that you have to be here a set time for your opinion to carry any weight so are you suggesting us lesser mortals are wasting our time posting ?

I didn't join because it was a tech support site and I suspect many others didn't join for that reason as well. I remember when there was no CivDeb just Random.

for those who want to see what a tech forum is like without these offtopic forums: http://discussions.virtualdr.com/ ... wait now they even have one ...used to be just all tech support and there was one forum I forget which where they allowed like one off topic thread per week but looks like they gave in ...wow, must be hard to run a forum without a offtopic section of some sort
