I had that happen where the dates, post numbers wre all out of order.
What happen was I clicked on the reply and I guess info in a cookie or what ever knows what the last post was. Then I had to go and do something so when I was gone others posted and then I came back and finished my reply and posted it.
So all post made after I had started the reply and the time I submited the reply were out of order. But after I reloaded the page they all fell back into the right order.

Mike I guess you may know more about what happen if I did not say it right or my guess is wrong.

Make sure you don't have anything in your hosts files, clear temporary files, etc.

I only have 65,544 sites in my hosts file. Plus cache is ok.
It happens on and off where loading one page here is fast and the next one is slow and then fast again and so on.

See Mike from the screen shot here and it does not seem to matter so much what server I am on that the slow page loads are from me waithing to get a reply back from you.
I got cable and this was one long page load at that took almost 78 seconds.
Your see the seconds twice and the one was when I took the 1st screen shot and the 2nd was the time after the page loaded so the total time.

I already told you where I'd start (the hosts file), but it could be a lot of settings, programs, filters, etc. Also, make sure you don't have your browser set to check for a new version on each page load.

I am just curious but how would the host file cause this trouble?

@ hewee: It is probably on your end, everything is loading fast for me and I am probably on a slower connection.
