Attachments enlargement not auto wanted.
Hello,

In my post here the three attachments uploaded and referred to as 1 2 and 3 .gif have disfigured the post by failing:

1. To remain as attachments (they are hugely displayed).

2. They are not named rendering my references to them nonsense.

What is to be done?

Thanks.

Ben.

Pretty weird problem! It looks like they're just showing up twice, but I'm not sure what would cause that. Let me know if you notice any other threads doing that. Dan and I have scheduled a major software update for next week that should fix and/or further break this and many other issues.

Hello TechGuy,

Thanks for the response. I made another post in that same thread - here - some 00:09:32 later, and attached a gif which displayed normally. BobJam, whose thread it was, reported here that he had trouble uploading his attachment and was obliged to resort to an in-post image. The two posts, my first and then his, were made 00:01:19 apart.

Will, as requested, keep a watchful eye for other instances of this.

Cheers.

Ben.

Fixing is fine Mike, it's the breaking we're worried about!

I don't know if my problem is similiar.

On 12/3/07 I posted in Announcements in the thread Happy Birthday CCM, Dec 8th on page 3, post #87. I put in a couple of pictures as attachments. The second one was on their twice...I only put it in once.

That same evening, I posted in Random in the thread I just want to Say..., on page 58 post #2283 and put in a couple of pictures there as attachments and the same thing happened. It hasn't happened again since then and I have posted more attachments. If it isn't the same kind of problem then I apologize for posting.

I am sorry I don't know how to make it that you can go "here" to see it...I know that would be easier for you to find them.

I have seen lots of images posted twice for years.
But I think it is because they upload the image attacment and then they add the image code also when it is not needed so they have there image show up twice.

Yup, you're right hewee -- I don't know why people really like to post the img code when attaching, but that will make it show up twice. In the case pointed to above, though, it's clear that wasn't the case. In any event, I'm not going to lose too much sleep over it as that part of the code is going to be completely replaced in less than a week.

After the replacement, you can then sort out all the new problems it creates!

I think when you see the "dual" images all that is going on is that people want the image inline as opposed to as an attachment, an option thats not available to "un-donated" members. While some of these people opt to use a site like photobucket to host the image (resulting in just the inline image showing up in the post) others just attach it then use the attachment location to put the image inline. I can't remember which mod said it but I do remember reading a post where one mentioned posting it as an attachment / inline image was a better option than using an off site host as this guaranteed that the image wouldn't disappear from the post possibly hampering someone that may be searching for a problem solution down the road.

Yep Mike that will show double images doing both the attachment and code. I know at Calendar of Updates once your images are uploaded you can go down and click on it and then you can put the code any place you want in your post. Also it keeps the image name when you do it that way. If you just attach a image and someone want to save it it does not have the file name it did when I uploaded it.
Even has it so if you want to when your in the message box it will show everything like smilies and links just like they will show up in the reply so it hides the code. Some what cool once you get use to it.

Here I added a stocking to the thumbsup if you want to use it Mike for the smilies.

Was playing and added the image code and then preview post and I seen the image from the code but not the attacment image.
I wonder if people upload a image and then click preview and because you can not see your attached image they then add the image code to the image because that does show up in the preview. Then when they submit the post the attachment image shows up and also the image code linked image so you got the double images.

Can't you make it so attachments show up in the preview.
