Can you make a forum dedicated to just education? Like schools, certifications etc...etc...

Would be useful I think

We get requests for new forums all the time. If we responded to all of them, there'd be so many forums that you'd need a forum subject index.

Hey Mancow -

I'm with you on your suggestion, as I've suggested it in the past (as have others.) We've all been shot down.

I've always thought it made more sense to have a forum dedicated to tech-related certs and education, than a bunch of Community forum/sub-forums that deal with ... well, who knows. But alas .....

There is a Certifications thread here which you may be interested in. It's better than nothing!

But it looks like this isn't the first and only request for a forum like this. I've seen many tech sites with the same kind of forum and I don't see how this would conflict with anything. Im just saying you guys should give it some thought.

Thanks,
Mancow

I think lexmarks567 means exams of the non-tech variety.

And I assume that Mancow meant TECH-related education, not education in all subjects.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Wow, you totally misinterpreted the point of my thread. I'm not saying there should be a forum that helps people pass there certifications or school work. I think there should be a forum that helps people find what schools are phony, how to go about getting certifications, which certifications are for what... Etc..etc..

Here is a sample forum thats already out there but is much less populated (I would like to see a similar forum here because it's much more populated here)
http://www.maximumpc.com/forums/view...dbd598d3cece3e

Here is the brief description they give for the forum:
Use this section to: (a) ask about classes; (b) ask about books and online resources; (c) ask about certification; or (d) all of the above.

I hope this makes it more clear.

Thanks,
Mancow

I rest my case. TSG is focused on tech support and we don't want to wander too far from that. If you want a college forum, go someplace like here.

I don't think its far from tech support. An education forum will help people to help people I mean, isn't that what were all doing here?

Plus there is a random discussion forum and that has nothing to do with technology.

Thanks,
Mancow

We've wandered WAY too far from it in the years that I've been here. When I joined in '99, Random was the only non-tech related forum.

I still think it's a good idea, Mancow.

seems pretty obvious that there are members here with questions about the best schools for tech stuff, course comparisons, or their experiences they'd like to share.

imo, tho, you'll never build a case for it by starting a thread here

one thought is for those with a tech education question or experience to start a thread in the reviews forum....ask for opinions about a specific school, or course, or program......or offer an opinion about same.....

threads get started in random about these kinds of things from time to time....i frankly haven't seen the kind of response that warrants tech education having its own forum, tho....but that may be because random is not frequented by a lot of members whose interest is really in the tech threads.

Hmmm .....

Y'all repetitively shoot down the suggestion of having a form dedicated to tech certifications and education, yet you create a forum solely so folks can introduce themselves .......

Before long this place will be a social networking site ......
