A suggestion.
Many times threads get moved from various parts of the forum to "Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs". And many times this threads have already been answered to (because malware only came into consideration later on in the troubleshooting process and many other reasons). Unfortunatelly, this threads are doomed - since one will look for a thread that has had zero (0) posts. This is especially true for the malware removal section - since the only people that can answer there are malware removal experts - and because usually a single person handles a thread (unlike other parts of the forum, where many members will help out in one thread).

For this reason, I suggest that you consider adding another function to the forum, which will allow a second number (of posts) to be displayed, when a thread has been moved. So for instance - if a thread has 8 posts and is moved, this would display as 0 (8) - where zero (0) is the number of posts in the part of the forum the thread has been moved to and eight (8) of course represents the sum of all posts. If moved again, the process would be repeated (sum all the previous posts and add a zero).

This would ensure that no malware issues are overlooked, and would - in my opinion - add a useful function to this forum. Hope you like the idea, don't know if it can be done easily though

Happy holiday!

It's a great idea. Dan and I have actually been talking about creating a different function, but with the same purpose, for that forum. Due to some technical limitations, it'll have to wait until the next big upgrade. I always hate to give ETAs, but I'm hoping it will be in about 2-3 months. Just don't tell the malware people -- they didn't know we were working on something. We don't want them getting anxious.

That's great! We'll keep it on the "down-low", lol.

Good luck with the bugs, btw!

What?!!! Just kidding.

Along the same lines but slightly different..... I know some other boards have a function where if the original poster adds additional posts with more information, the thread will still show up as "unanswered" provided no others have replied to it. This would be helpful for those who have already started their threads in the MR & HJT forum where others can't reply anyway but have added additional posts or bumps.

Starting my next wish list early.

That sounds great- I figured something was going to happen with the situation. I like the idea of the display to reflect that the thread had replies before the Move took place...

If that Shield is also a Mod, they should be the ones to prune unneeded posts if they have not done it, nor any other Mod...before the move. Before seems better but there may be software thingies I am not aware of....to consider

If the orignal poster's bumps...or added posts...retained a (0) count we can still look at the last username that posted--and that is what we notice when we check the threads in our Subscribed Threads.

<<<<and, if what I have added could be done, it would be nice.>>>

My wish list is growing, too....

0 (Here) of 8 (Moved) Mod (1)<<this last, so a Shielded OR non shielded Mod may post something but not affect the count or thread seen as "being taken".... (or I suppose they could just Edit )- but edits may go un-seen by newer users who don't have the handle on refreshing the pages, scrolling back through...or coming back to see our replies.. Perhaps, if there was a "Reply as Mod Only" button made> or Shields and Mods used something- maybe, Quick Reply, that could indicate... "Hey, one of us posted (to ask/tell them something for clarification to help) but are not able to work this" Or, something that displays to Mods/Shields somewhere so we can "Leave a Note", a mouseover...to say what we need to.... "I've posted here, (for this or that reason) but cannot work to completion"

As soon as 0 (Here) is more than 0 we can easily see that (a Moderator) or Shield must have replied....we can see the name of who did.....AND tell that the Mod/Shield has posted but didn't intent to "keep" it.

Those who posted but aren't working it can Unsubscribe...if they wish.

Kind of a......"I just posted a note" but the thread, is still open, so we don't have to "explain" it all in the thread.

Side Post-It Notes (that appear only to us?) To add some things i.e: "The poster has opened a thread at another web forum" etc.... thus saving PMs & messages back and forth (save for important ones).

With this only being available in the one "restricted" forum, or however you could use the feature.

Work with me here!

Just kicking around some ideas- with all due respect to how forums work and have gotten as far as they have- I'm all for simplicity but things do change.

Yes, I agree, simplicity is good - but especially for the malware removal part of the forum some extra functions could be added, since all who help there are experienced and most are mods anyway
