404 Not Found
I keep getting 404's when I try to visit TSG's homepage. Is this happening with anyone else?

I refresh and the page loads normally.

Yep! I think it started doing that yesterday! I use IE. Same thing.... I just hit refresh and usually it loads okay the first time..... a couple of times it took more than once!

It wasn't only TSG's site though! I also had it happen when trying to get to Yahoo and a couple of other sites I frequent!

It might just be IE! Who knows?

I'm using Firefox, and it's giving me a server-side 404 error, so it must be one of Mike's server's on the fritz.

I was getting this today as well using Safari. I don't read the main page so once I got the 404 error, I simply went directly to the forums using forums.techguy.org.

Peace...

I haven't seen this here, but I did have one error when I used a link from BleepinComputer to TSG. I tried it again and it worked, and the link was correct.

The requested URL / was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server at www.techguy.org Port 80
EDIT: The second refresh loaded the page. I'm sure the Apache error log will contain information regarding the problem.

Peace...

I bet it's a problem with our new Server 6. I'll ask Dan to check it out ASAP.

It must be because I'm on 6 now and I have the same problem but earlier on a different server I was able to access it.

Same problem here..
so I went to the TSG Status page, and got the following result (screenshot)

This last weekend (Sat and Sunday) I got the same 404 error, am using IE6. When I went to the TSG status page, it had a server3(?) error bar in a red banner, everything else on the status page was showing ok. This error display result was the same both Sat and Sunday. I have no idea why the attached screenshot is now displaying what it is
All I had to do, was as mentioned by others here in the thread, simply reload the TSG website link, and was back in.

Web 6 should now be fixed.

paisanol69, you'll find the status page looks like that every morning (around 2 or 3am) while servers run updates.

Web 3 is offline for upgrades.

Thanks!

...explanation Mike. That update time for the servers is my morning coffee/TSG computer time(well, when I can bump my wife off the computer anyway), and I was only posting what I posted, in case it could help you troubleshoot whatever the problem was. It wasnt a complaint on my part, I dont mind reloading the page once in a while, as long at it allows me to browse the TSG website.

As far as I am concerned, not getting bumped off, while the servers are being updated, like in the old days, is a HUGE improvement for us over here in Holland, and I'm sure other European's will agree with me !!!( A certain chocaholic comes to mind, over there in the United Kingdom) Thank you for making the upgrades that allows us over here to be online at TSG during our mornings!

No problem, paidanol69! I didn't take it as a complaint. Sorry for my quick reply earlier -- just trying to cover everything in one post.
