At first glance, I hated it. But I am warming up to it. I'm a pretty "social" person here so I really love the changes to the profile options..the ability to upload a photo album, the personal visitor box in your profile etc.

One bug that I noticed already is that when you click on the option to turn off the right-hand sidebar (for premium members, in the "edit options" section) the sidebar does not turn off. I clicked "save changes" and the sidebar didnt go anywhere.

I also agree on the white..very stark. I dont know if its possible to add some sort of forum skins or not?

Nice job, Mike! What a huge change!

I think the font changed from the old one to Arial, which comes out much smaller. I think a better font would make it more readable, even with the white. Of course, I'd prefer a more subdued background.

The old one was Verdana. Mike could we at least get that back?

I'm a little surprised by the trouble with the white background, but it seems to be a popular complaint! I thought it was a pretty safe choice based on Google, Yahoo, USA Today, etc. Even so, I'll definitely keep that in mind as we work on it!
Thanks about the search
Duh,,,,,,,,,,,, I guess I need to be more patient and inquisitive.

other than the white issue I think the layout is really user friendly and easier to navigate.

Like the new layout, gonna take me a bit to get used to looking at it but it is alot cleaner than the old one. Too bad it doesnt have a "new site smell" . Atcually with the reply part it be cool to have a little option with the smilies so you dont have to worry about memorizing the vb with quick reply.

yeah...the writing looks smaller. How about a nice comic sans font? LOL..I once heard someone call it the foo-foo girlie font!

I have to say I don't find the white very easy to stare at. My eyes are already watering a bit, lol. I also find it harder to keep track of things, like the quotes and where posts leave off and start, it all sort of blends together now.

There is a very nice blue color that comes up for a second whenever you change pages, I think that woudl be a nice backgrownd.

Contrast the Yahoo page with the TSG page, since this is an example Mike used. Note that the Yahoo page is not so overpowering with the white.

I agree with you. The fonts are too small, making it look like there are swaths of unnecessary, empty space. And the white is giving me a headache. Or maybe it's the squinting. The old theme was very relaxing.

Yeah!!!!!! Formatting buttons in the Quick Reply window!!!!!!

Hmmmm... this is going to take some getting used to.....

I have to agree with JW, the background is too bright, what happened to our logo? I loved that logo and now, no offense, it looks like a 10-minute Photoshop edit.

The arrows look a bit out of place.

This top line of text is right against the next line

Now don't get me wrong, overall, I like the change, there are just a few things that stand out.

Thanks for all the hard work you put into Tech Guy!

thats exactly what I first thought when the page came back up too!

me either. I actually feel a strain on my eyes from the white and the smaller font. Or maybe the font isnt any smaller than it used to be but the white is just making it look funny.

Also Mike..I mentioned in the other thread that the sidebar doesnt shut off. I am a premium member and knew i'd like it better without the sidebar so I clicked the option to shut it off and nothing happened. No hurry checking into that....i'm sure you've got lots of little things to tweak over the next week or so. Just thought i'd mention it.

I was hoping we would get to the point where we could pick our own skins.

The sidebar doesn't go away for me either.

Hmm... Maybe I will try setting the background blue over the white. I will take a little while to rebuild the images like that, but I might give it a shot anyway. What do you think?

I hope to allow users (at least Premium, depending on how much work it takes ) to change some of the colors, but that'll be down the pipe a bit.

I just changed the font back to Verdana -- sorry that I missed that earlier!

Just tried turning off the sidebar and it seems to work for me, but I'll do some other tests to make sure.
