Solved: Server 5?
I hope that it's only this server...I had this problem last night as well but I brushed it off because of the software updates. But today I STILL don't have any formatting buttons, smileys, or the multi-quote functions.

NOTE: the "QUOTE" function is still working perfectly.

Am I the only one with this problem? If so, maybe it's my computer and I apologize.

I don't know what the problem may be but I can confirm that I'm on server 5 right now and everything is fine for me.

Hmm....that's odd...it worked earlier in the day yesterday, but last evening I suddenly couldn't use those features anymore. I'll try restarting firefox and see if that clears it up.

Actually, I'm not sure about the multi-quote. It doesn't seem to be working but I'm not really sure how it works since I never use it.

OK, I've gotten switched to Server 4 (I went ahead and restarted Firefox & my laptop), but I STILL can't seem to use the multi-quote function or any of my formatting stuff (font, insert picture, bold, etc.) On the font and size dropdowns there is a blank section, and there is no dropdown part--I click it and nothing happens.

I'll see if there is any updates for FF that I need...maybe it's something with NoScript or AdBlock.

But when it worked I was no longer on server 5 (was on 6).

You have to allow scripts for cachefly.net. I don't know if that's the difference but it's something to do with images.

Hmm....suddenly stuff is working again. What is cachefly.net? That seems to be what was the problem...it gave me all kinds of error messages on my NoScript Error console. I'll attach a picture to show what I mean.

I think it was just that I hadn't added the cachefly.net on my noscript...I temped it for now, to see if it made a difference, I will go ahead and allow it now. What is it exactly? I had made this a "safe site" but for some reason that was flagged.

anyway, here's part of my Error Console:

Here's a direct quote from TechGuy in the Welcome thread about cachefly:
Quote:
FYI, I just moved a lot of our images, designs, and scripts to CacheFly, which locates a copy of them in several servers around the world and serves them from the one closest to you. That should help you to download such elements faster and will also cut down on the load on our servers.

Can you do me a favour and try it with IE? Do you have IE6 or 7? I don't know why it won't work in IE6.

Oh! That's what I get for not checking out all the threads.... Thanks for the info, that makes me feel better about allowing it. Not that I distrust Mike, but it just wasn't something I'd had to deal with, and I was nervous.

I would try it on IE if I could...I'm on a Mac...I can try it on Safari for you if you'd like? Wouldn't help you directly with your problems, but maybe it could clear up some questions...?

You're welcome.

I don't think it's necessary to try it on Safari, at least not for now but thanks for the offer.

I'm glad you're sorted out now.

I'm not sure why it doesn't work in IE6, but I'll play with that after I have some other troubles fixed. (Maybe we shouldn't let those crazy IE6 people in here! )

I just talked to CacheFly and they're going to let me set up static.techguy.org instead of techguy.cachefly.net -- that way most script blockers will automatically allow it (since it's within the .techguy.org domain).
