Posting using Quick Reply window problem
This AM when using the Quick Reply window to post a message in a thread - two copies of my message were posted - I subsequently deleted the duplicate.

Just now when attempting to post another Quick Reply window message - the duplicate posting was avoided by telling me that I needed to wait 10 seconds between posts - and it advised me to wait 8 seconds. Luckily, I remembered the previous duplicate this AM, and checked in a separate tab that the original message posting was indeed posted, and so I avoided actually posting twice by deleting the tab in which I was posting the message to an existing thread.

Apparently, the cause of the problem still exists - in part, because I have not experienced it in every posting using the Quick Reply window.

I have had this happen a time or two, but was when we were getting the RED banner about updates being done.

I just experienced the same problem posting in the CD forum in the Fill'er up gas prices to rise by 25 cents thread. The only thing preventing the double post was a message saying to wait another 2 seconds - like if you try to Search twice within 20 seconds - otherwise, it would have posted twice if I had not known about the problem and recognized that I should reload the web page to see if the post had already taken - it had. But, for someone unfamiliar with the problem in the system - they might well have posted twice thinking they had only posted once.

The problem remains unsolved.

When I've had double-posts, I've clicked the reply once, so I don't think mine have been "operator error". I haven't seen this issue for some time now, I thought it was resolved.

Ok, this (system double posted my Quick Reply) happened to me again this morning while posting in Random in the Space and Science thread. I followed up by deleting the second post which was done by the system, not me.

The annoying thing is that when you delete a post at the end of a thread, it deposits your thread position (after the delete) at post #1 of the thread rather than the position (in this case at the end of the thread) where the delete occurred. This is an annoying feature! (I could have said bug, but I'll call it a feature for now even though I think it is a bug)!

P.S. Using Quick Reply to post this!

This is a problem with vBulletin version 3.7.2. A maintenance release is planned pretty soon that fixes this problem. vBulletin 3.7.3. There's not a lot anyone can do until then.
