Search slow
In the last few days search has been very slow for me. Is it because of the indexing that occurred? I am on dial-up but it has never been this slow.

Thanks in advance.

Don't know, but you're right, it's really slow right now.

Here I thought it was my system that was slow!

Yes, there are many sites that are down or just super slow, must be a Backbone issue.

It's very frustrating, but Dan and I haven't been able to find a good solution for searching this site. It's just too huge. We're still actively working on finding something that will work, but I don't have any ETA.

Looks like you'll have to configure your "datacenter" like Google.

Can I borrow your credit card, John?

Seriously, though -- I'm glad to announced that we just ordered a new server for TSG that Dan and I hope will significantly help the search issue. For those interested, new server is a 1U dual quad core (eight cores at 2.5GHz) with 12GB of DDR ECC RAM and two 143GB 15k SAS hard drives (RAID1). I sure hope it makes a difference! The hardware is supposed to arrive on Friday, and Dan is coming into the shop on Friday night to start setting up the software. He and I will be going to the data center on Sunday morning to move servers around, so you can expect some downtime then.

Sounds like a nice machine. This search thing has really been a thorn in your side for some time now.

I'm not sure that it's been in my side, but it sure has been a pain!

Thanks for noticing, Poochee. I hope it continues to work well, even during very busy times.
