Just tried to do a search on "search feature" and got the following error.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /home/httpd/vhosts/helponthe.net/forums/search.php on line 1158

I don't think search is totally fixed yet.

I guess Mike or Dan could try upping the "memory_limit" in the php.ini file, which hopefully should solve the above error. And may be a restart of the apache server (I assume you use apache).

Other things to fix the problem could be:

max_execution_time = X ;
max_input_time = X

Upping both of them.

You could also try recompiling /reinstalling PHP as an apache module.

I think Mike is struggling with the sheer size of the database and the search function. It's been an ongoing issue since the upgrade.

As a side note, if you've got the "tag cloud" enabled that might serve as an alternate to using the forum search function. It might not locate ALL of the threads related to your search topic but the threads that are tagged should be available, if the search function isn't working for you and your term is in the cloud.

Peace...

Me Too, but not just on this site
I have also experienced that error searching on this website, but also with searching in techsupportforum.
This is the error at that site:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 75497472 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /home/tsf/public_html/search.php on line 1033
I guess I am to assume that it is Not my Computer?

So this is a totally separate forum than Techsupportforum, but I see reference to it.
Just a little confused..... as usual!

Yes, that would be a site problem and not your computer.

Both sites are running the same software so it stands to reason there may be similar error messages.

No but there may be a few dancing cats and at least one machine gun toting cat.
