Now I know the problem is the board and/or its ads. I just had a different type ad at the top of the page when I was about to mark a forum read and I was able to mark the forum read just like it has always done. Thanks Tufnuf(sp)----you have spotted the possible trouble. Now maybe someone can fix the problem.

Using IE6 also.

MS wants you to update to a newer version.

Be nice to know if IE6 works for anyone who has not gotten any MS updates this pass month.
Unfortunately I'm stuck with IE6 at work but I use FF at home, the multi quote function doesn't work in IE6 either so there's something amiss somewhere

Hey Dotty----Search Tools is working now, well at least it worked for me for the 3 forums that I have read tonight. Haven't a clue what was wrong. I'm just happy it works--for me and I hope for you and everyone.

Thanks hewee. Don't know what is going on but it was nice to be able to use the tools correctly those 3 times. After that; nada. Even the right mouse clicking on tools did not take me to the work around that I had previously been able to use to mark a forum read. And I don't claim to know a great deal about computers but I don't really think it is being caused solely by IE6. I have stayed with IE6 as long as I have because it continues to work for me. I have tried IE7 and didn't care for it and IE8 is an area that I have not tried.

Well, tools is working again---for now at least but I have confidence in management.

EDIT: Not so fast, it did not work in this forum. Oh well, 3 out of 4 forums isn't too bad.

OK if it keeps working in a forum but not other forums here at tsg then you know it is coding or something Mike has to put into each forum to get it to work.

So keep an eye out of what forums work.

Harry, was it ever explained why the multi quote doesn't work on Tsg using IE6 yet it works on other forums ?

Just before shutting down last night, I installed IE7 just to see what would happen in this forum--still no option to make it read in the drop down. So the problem is [b]not[b] IE but this forum; and maybe others also. But in those 3 forums I read every night, it worked with IE6 last night. Whether it works today, I don't know but I'll try one of those forums (other software) and see what happens.

I have just read all of the June 26 posts in the 3 forums I frequent each time I sign on to TSG---for that purpose and the 3 forums allowed me to mark them read without any problem. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Yeah, I am using IE7 but I have already proven IE6 works just as well. hewee may be right; it may be coding in this forum. Who knows? Well maybe the Shadow knows. I am outta here.

You going crazy yet over all this?
Why are you using IE6 any way?
I know a year ago on the other old PC with 98SE I have FF2 but also had Netscape 7.01 I keep on there. Use it to check sites that did not work right in FF or I could not get the flash to work but it worked in Netscape. Plus I could edit saved web pages.
