#32 | Hi All
I have been reading your replies over the last week or so. Thank you for your responses. I looked at a link someone posted, and I do have to assure you I am not here just to talk BS to get my numbers up. I have stated my self as a beginner ...........and until I change my mind that is the way my status should stay.
I have a few more thoughts to share.........but prehaps this is not the correct forum.
Thanks ALL
TC

#35 | I joined TSG 7 years and knew diddly-poop. ("You still don't!" the crowd sneers. "Shaddap," I retort! ) I learned a lot just by the answers I got to my own problems, then spent a couple of years actually helping others. I am no geek and shied away from most threads. But the guideline I set for myself is, If I am confident and actually know what the cause is and what the solution is, I jump in and help. If I have doubts I research it to either refresh my memory or gain that extra piece of knowledge that lets the solution show true.
If you are not sure of the answer, leave it alone.
If you say "Aha! I had that problem and this is how I fixed it!" then dive in and have fun! The pay sucks but when somebody posts "Wow! That worked! Thanks so much!" You feel a warm glow you will never forget.

#38 | Hi,
After all the encouraging comments I recieved here.....I went out on a "limb" so to speak and - posted what I thought was a darn good reply to help someone. I wouldn't normally have the guts to do that. And my aim was to help the person. So imagine my dismay when a "senior member" has posted pretty much the same thing as I said ..........after my post. Thank you BlackHorse. (sarcasm detected)

HC | Don't take it personally.
Lots here don't read. Most here are guilty of it at least once at some point.
I've also opened threads, not get back to it for a while and forget to refresh page before answering. Sometimes missing posts while I was away. | | Administrator with 6,763 posts. | | Join Date: Mar 2004 Location: Somewhere back in the Mountain Experience: better than my sister |

HC | Do you know for sure that BlackHorse actually did read your post, specifically? Or do you think it just might be possible that he did in fact just think of a possible answer that might work and simply clicked on the thread he was subscribed to in order to talk to Terry about it.....since he specifically addresses Terry? Simply because a second person out of thousands on here had the same idea that you did, and posted it quickly while they were thinking of it does not mean that he (or anyone) actually thought YOU are stupid and went out of their way to specifically ignore and disregard YOUR post. How was he to know you were going to post and to look for your post? Sure, he could have read new posts first......but real life sometimes means that you don't have a lot of time to spend reading and sometimes people only have a second to hop onto this site and post a suggestion that they just thought of that might help someone. Helping people with computer problems is why we are all here.
And it really is permissible for more than one person to post the same answer/suggestion/advice.

#41 | Hi
I am sorry for being so "quick to critisize" before. I am not perfect nor should I expect anyone else to be. My apologies to Blackhorse. Me being new or nervous is not and excuse.
Sorry

HC | Happychic, please don't get discouraged. Consider these points:
1. The post after yours may have been generated at the same time yours were. I try to acknowledge when that happens, but not everyone does.
2. People's styles on a discussion board are vastly different. Some may let your post stand due to it's accuracy, some may post and acknowledge your post. Others may feel the reply needs to be stated in a different manner. If you really look, rarely are two posts identical, each has small variations. Police like to interview as many witnesses to an accident as possible. Each saw the same thing, but recall little things that may make a huge difference.
As I have stated before, I don't think it is all bad to have multiple people solidifying a solution for the person who needs help. Obviously creating a Bandwagon Effect on threads has its limits, but as Laura said, it's not that bad to have a little redundancy.
Please feel free to help, and don't worry about what other people do.

HC | See what I mean?? I was typing my response and yours got posted before that!!
FWIW... I think you will make a great helper. Having the courage to post your fears, thoughts, and an apology takes a big person, with a big heart. Just keep your eyes on the goal, which is helping people. Your posts will help people.
Keep it up.
