I tried to block them, but I guess it didn't work... I'm going to contact the ad manage who I think is in charge of it.

actually, aren't the ads supposed to have that disclaimer in little print that says ads by google - usually on the bottom-right?

Not always -- there is a new ad format called Modules where that information isn't displayed.
