Yes, John, so I. And like others who have mentioned the internal error, MOST of the time it works fine. But there are times -- mostly on weekends (why?) -- that I get the error. Until ~3 months ago, I never saw the error. . . and I've been a donating supporter of TSG for at least a decade. First time I saw it, I thought it must be a problem with Firefox (my default browser), but it did the same with IE8. Eventually I just chalked it up to the server not able to handle all the requests, and figured it would be fixed . . . sometime.

Unfortunately, it's not a matter of just throwing more hardware at the issue. The old ("Advanced") search already has its own server and there's no way to scale it further due to limitations in the vBulletin software we use. vBulletin has no interest in scaling their software any further as there are so few sites as big as our's and it works fine for small sites. A third party is supposedly working on a solution that will be sold for around $2000, but it was supposed to be released a few months ago and we're still waiting...

In the mean time, we've set up the new Search engine (using the box at the top-right of any page). It does not use the old search server and should not result in an Internet Server Error. Unfortunately, it has some limitations and doesn't give you advanced search options like the Advanced Search does.
