I've sometimes received friendship requests from people I don't know nor have interacted with, I don't go there.

When viewing a new users profile I get "Sorry, but to prevent spam, the profile of new members is hidden until they've made a few posts."

I'll be your friend I tell you what you wanna know if you tell me what that "tag cloud" thingy is on the right side of almost every screen I see here! lol

on most of the pages on this site if I look to the right side of the screen, I see "site comments and suggestions" "Tag cloud" and "search". Under the tag cloud it has information that looks suspiciously like my computer specs. For example it says somethings like "dell" "laptop" "XP" and other things which do indeed apply to me. I've clicked on some of them but am still confused as to why it's there.

istandalonefy,

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
A tag cloud or word cloud (or weighted list in visual design) is a visual depiction of user-generated tags, or simply the word content of a site, used typically to describe the content of web sites. Tags are usually single words and are typically listed alphabetically, and the importance of a tag is shown with font size or color.[1] Thus both finding a tag by alphabet and by popularity is possible. The tags are usually hyperlinks that lead to a collection of items that are associated with a tag.
The tags you see are the 50 most used thread tags.

is a search feature based on keywords, that have been used in threads on this site, which may or may not help you when you are looking for a problem or answer to your problem. The contents of the tag cloud will change, depending on what thread you are reading.

If you want to "turn off" this feature here at the TSG website,

Click on "My Account" at the top of the webpage
Go to "Setup and Options"
Click on " Edit Options

at the very bottom of the page, you will see a section "Miscellaneous Options"
and the setting "Show Sidebar "

Select the "Please Hide the Sidebar "
click on the "Save Changes"

and you are done.

You may want to look around that page, while you are there, it has lots on good setting options, including different browser skins you can use while here at TSG.

Welcome, you will like it here!!
