Solved: Updated to Firefox 3.5 but got problems
This new version can't find TSG (homepage) I always have to refresh, login is always cleared, and won't save name and password, no matter what I tell it to keep.

The other problem is, whenever I enter a webaddress, it shows a bunch of choices where I have been days or weeks ago. I do not want anything to be kept, since I bookmark what I want. It is very confusing.
How do I set Firefox like before?

I don't know how you had Firefox set before, but this may help with your current issues ...

Click on Tools and then Options... and then on the Privacy tab.

For the History setting you want "Remember history" or "Use Custom Settings" and have it set to keep cookies. If you do not keep cookies you will have to login to TSG (and other sites) every time. If you are already saving cookies probably one is corrupted--click on "remove individual cookies" and delete all the TSG ones. After one more login your desires to stay logged in should be honored.

I think on that Privacy page you want the Location bar set to suggest "Nothing." But that doesn't stop anything from being saved, just removes the feature to save you some typing.

thanks, Terry.
I doublechecked everything you mentioned, I think that's how I used to have the old version set up, but I don't exactly remember.
I never had to enter my Username here, but even so I now did as you said, it still asks for re-entering Username and Password

To doublecheck who is storing cookies when I start Firefox, it only used to show tecjguy, before I went to anywhere but now every time I have this site putting a cookie in:
scorecardresearch.com.
I wonder if Mike wants this? This is happening co-incidentally since I updated FF.

And if anyone knows, why I have to refresh startpage, before TGS can be found? The only program that updates is Kaspersky Internet Security.

On the Privacy tab, place a check by "Clear history when Firefox closes" then click the "Settings" button to the right.
On the "Settings for Clearing History" dialog, make sure "Cookies" and "Active logins" are unchecked in the History section and "Site Preferences" is unchecked in the Data section. Other items as you prefer. Be sure to click OK on all windows.
That should over ride any other settings for those items that may be messed up in the config.

That cookie is a tracker. I would add it to your exceptions list.

ok, LOGIN seems to work again, but I still have to refresh to get TSG forums to come up, I get a page error, check spelling etc. Can't figure it out, since it always worked before.

And I don't understand why I have a tracing cookie. Never had this with the old version. Also if I start with another webpage, this scorecardresearch is not there.
Does anyone else has this cookie?

Have you tried resetting your Homepage?
Tools>Options>Main tab. If you have TSG bookmarked, try clicking the "Use Bookmark" button to set the Homepage.
If you're getting a check spelling error, I suspect it's a faulty URL.

That cookie is only loading when you start at TSG? If you remove it, is it there if you look before going to another website?

I did reset homepage several times, TSG is on the address bar, when Firefox starts, but cannot find page appears. I click on the home icon then it does load TSG again. I checked, that FF is my default browser, it's ok.

What is a faulty URL? I have clicked on "use present"as homepage, I re-entered it new, still the same error, that's why I checked, what cookies are showing immediately at Firefox start.
I don't get that cookie, when for example, I click on a URL (link) from an email, then this site doesn't show a cookie and Firefox starts new.
It is a puzzle to me.

this site shows this:
Quote:
ScorecardResearch is a domain used by Full Circle Studies, Inc. to help with the collection of Internet web browsing data on specific websites that have enrolled in a broad market research effort to create reports on Internet behavior and trends.
Quote:
As part of this market research effort, participating websites agree to deploy a ScorecardResearch web beacon throughout their site. This beacon is used to collect information about general visitation patterns to the participating website. Web beacons are commonly used by companies to understand the visitation on their website. In addition, the ScorecardResearch web beacon will utilize a cookie.
I have not read anywhere in Announcement or anywhere else on TSG, that THIS website has agreed to that. I wonder where something is hiding to tell FF to first put the cookie back before going to TSG and then stop loading TSG.
That's why I wonder if anyone else had this happening?

Maybe I should move this question to the Suggestions part of the forum and maybe Mike will see it.

Since you've got that odd cookie thing going on, I went ahead and moved this to the Site Comments so Mike can take a look at it.

I don't allow all cookies but create exceptions only for the ones I want. You can delete that cookie and add that domain to the exceptions to always block.

ok, I'll try the blocking of that site, I am just curious, why it appears? Did I get the new version of Firefox from a false site? I did go to Mozilla.
I thought maybe Mike is doing something. will report back.

Are you sure you picked up that cookie from TSG? I'm sure Mike will comment on whether or not he's using that service. But since you were set to accept all cookies, you could have picked it up anywhere.

I blocked that site and now it doesn't seem to give me a cookie.

Just to make sure, I logged on to TSG with Internet Explorer (what I hardly ever use,) and yes, a cookie from that site was also there AND TSG is my homepage.

Then I restarted IE and stopped TSG before loading, just entered, google.com and NO cookie from that site showed.
Therefore I am curious why this happened.

I am on dial-up, so I don't go to too many sites, gmail maybe, or whatever site is here suggested, like Trendmicro or Hoaxbusters, I don't do any of those chats, facebook or what I call junk-sites.
