New Forum for Graphic Art Questions
Mike, would you please consider creating a new forum just for graphic art questions? There have been many threads focused on graphic art, but they're scattered about... mostly in the "Random" forum... because it's become sort of common knowledge that the artists hang out a lot in "Random". Having a separate forum for graphic art tech questions would elevate the subject and give more organization to the threads. Thanks.

Judaism looks very gravely upon misuse of speech. Our tradition teaches that lashon hara... literally "the evil tongue"... can destroy many lives...

The person speaking
People start mistrusting you. In the end, you're killing your own reputation. Furthermore, because you are misusing the gift of speech that G-d gave you, you are also lessened in His eyes.

The person spoken about
The person under discussion is, of course, being killed in everyone's eyes. Whether the information is true or false, it is hard to take back defamatory words already spoken and undo the character assassination already committed.

The person spoken to
Interestingly enough, this is the person who is the most culpable, even though s/he is seemingly the innocent one. All s/he did was listen! But the Talmud says that listening to lashon hara is even worse than speaking it; the person had the power to stop it and didn't.

That would be one of the best forums to have here for some of us and all the other that want to know how to do something with images.

I'll go along with the suggestion too ... That would be a much needed solution to an ongoing problem ... Images and related subjects should really be in one place.

...it's become sort of common knowledge that the artists hang out a lot in "Random"

Indeed it has, and unfortunately without a clearly defined area for Images many new members will continue to be the last to find out.

Nothing of sorts about it. I'm not even referring to any of the images I see you touting about, and don't know if you created any of those, but I have read a few of your poems, and you are definitley an artist! you make something beautiful out of nothing more than a though or idea!

Now to the idea of a graphic art section, I am in no way graphically inclined, but I too have made a few posts asking about pictures or images, so think it would actully be a good forum to have.

Has anyone PMed Mike or reported this thread to the attention of the Mods?

According to the way the TSG help forums are currently arranged, it seems to me that the logical place for graphics questions/answers/advice is in the All Other Software (AOS) forum -- unless the problem is directly related to software already assigned to another forum like Business Applications, Games, etc. So, to see if anyone else thinks the same way, I took a quick look this morning (9-16) at the first 120 threads in AOS. They tabulate like this (give or take a few and allowing for differences of opinion on categorizing topics).

Threads that belong in AOS: 74
Utilities: 38
Media: 16
CD/DVD: 10
Graphics: 9
Other: 1

Threads that belong somewhere else that have not been moved: 36
Business Applications: 2
Games: 4
Hardware: 2
Development: 1
Windows (all types): 7
Web & Email: 9
Networking: 2
Security: 8
Site Comments: 1

Threads that have been moved: 10

So it would appear that graphics is not a heavy load in the AOS forum. I don't know if graphics is a big player in the other help forums because I did not look through them to find out. But I would guess that it is not. Therefore the question becomes, What would drive a graphics arts forum other than the nine threads in AOS? And I think the answer is obvious (and has already been alluded to in the previous posts): The thread "Everyone Can Display An Image!!!" in RD. There is a gold mine of information, help, ideas, images, etc. in that thread that currently is next to impossible to dig out -- unless a person wants to wade through all 4,244+ posts. And there are a few other threads in RD that contain some good graphics stuff.

So consider this post my trademark way of agreeing with the idea. Call it "Graphic Arts" and put it under the "Software & Hardware" heading. Then assign some poor soul the task of going through "Everyone Can Display an Image" to separate the image posts from the help posts so they are moved to Graphic Arts as two separate threads. Any volunteers?
