Enough Dual Boot users here to start a forum for those problems?
Do any other users of this great website think it would be helpful to add a forum in the "Operating Systems" area for dual boot issues?

I'm finding that since setting up a dual boot system, there are many questions that I'd like help on. But they can overlap into more than one operating system forum.

And since posting in both areas is not allowed, possibly half of the people who might have the answers never see the question.

I've heard that the Moderators would like to know how many people(besides me) would be intersted in them starting a forum for Dual Booting Issues.

Please answer, if you do think it would be useful to you too.

thank you

Great idea... maybe it can be called Dual Boots...

I'm not too clued up on dual boots yet, but most of my knowledge is from here so keeping those questions in one category would be great.

Hi Tidus4Yuna,

I've found out that dual boot systems can be very cool, but there are some unique issues that can be helpful to learn before mistakes are made.

I too think it would be very good to have all the help and useful information/discussion in one place.

I hope enough others agree and will respond here also to show the Moderators that it would be appreciated.

thanks

nice idea guys........i would be interested to know how many of us think a separate forum for multi-boot systems would be useful,a good pool for information, after all we all get similar problems from time to time......makes sense to share or thoughts and ideas.

Obviously I think so too, $teve.

I hope enough people see this to respond to the "poll".

By the way, guys......I found this just now:

http://shell.elite.be/~bever/multiboot.html

(there is nothing more discouraging than to have a problem that needs help fast, and find a forum where the last post or responce was 2 days ago. This TechGuy website is Very active and would be a Huge help for people with dual boot problems...if an area just for that could be started)

So I hope people find this "poll" after the original post disappears from the "moved" location on the main forum board. And speak up here if you'd like to see a Dual Boot issues area started too.

Hello!

I came across this thread and decided to dust it off and bump it back up.

I have recently installed a dual platform and I too would like to see a dual boot forum, for the reasons that you have already mentioned.

The moderators saw fit to create a new "Games" forum. It is my opinion that "Dual Platforms" is, at least, deserving of a Forum of its own, to deal with unique issues and to eliminate the confusion as to which forum to post a question. Hopefully Mike and the Moderators* will at least consider this proposal

Do you really think there are enough users that do actually dual boot that would make it worthwhile splitting it into it's own section? Most users coming here are newbies and have a hard enough time with one OS let alone two or more. There are lots of other sites on the internet that specialize in this type of thing and guides galore. An expert for any posts in the forum would be sufficient I would think.

Great point joeagain, I really could have used a forum like that when I set my first dual boot up As many problems I had, I think it would be a great idea to start a forum on dual boots.

The same thing could have been said about the Games forum, or the Linux forum. The more specific you get, the more people you could attract which would result in a wider range of knowledge.

As a dual-booter myself (sounds like a country song!), I think this is a great idea. Hope it flys.

So you are suggesting that breaking out the games forum into seperate sections would be a good idea as well? Would you suggest a sub category of Unreal Torment or Quake for the games section? Or breaking down the Linux forum isto sub categories like Red hat, Debian, Mandrake and the like??

Actually - in a perfect world (or cyberenvironment) yes. It'd be great to be able to categorize as detailed as that.

I still think having a forum for dual-booters is a good idea.

Thx for voicing support Jody!

I'm having a few bugs and situations unique to a dual platform and sure could use that forum now! Im posting yet another question in W98 forum.

If I manage to iron out all these double barrel bugs, maybe i will have my own dual boot webpage!
