Question Multiple notification of messages, etc.
Hello,

Hope I'm asking this question in the correct place!

I seem to be getting multiple notifictions by email of
private messages, tracking threads, etc. Is there anything I can do about this?

Thank you,
T2

Hi T2!

Nope, this should be in Site Comments & Suggestions, but we'll let you away with it this time!!

Are you sure they are duplicates? When you open the mails, are they by the same person and at the same time?

the way the mail system works, is that when you get a reply, or a PM with the same topic, a mail request is issued by the server. If you are online, then you will receive the mail. and if anyone else posts or PMs you with the same topic, you will receive another mail, with the same subject line.

If you are offline, and the first mail is not sent, then it stays in a queue, and any subsequent mail notifications for the same topic do not get processed, because the first one hasn't, get me?

Now, sometimes the server gets backlogged, and will occasionally send out multpile notifications for multiple posts in the same thread, because it thinks you are still online, even though you have logged off.

If this is not the case, and the mails are truly duplicates, exactly the same, then it would more likely be a problem with your ISPs mail server, or your own email programs settings, leaving duplicate son the mail server.

Let us know which one this is.

Good morning, BTW!!

Hello RandyG and ta!

Ah! that's probably what it is - they will be because more than one person has posted to the same thread, but I will check the time, etc, when it next happens and let you know. Thanks again!
Hope you're having good weather there in the Emerald Isle! It's a beautiful morning here.

Not sure how it was closed or why. Could of been a system glitch when it was moved. Will reopen for posting.

Hello RandyG

Looks as though the messages are for different instances of people posting to a thread, so problem solved.

Thanks

You mean it didn't even rain over there on Wednesday last week?

The one and only day the water actually fell from the sky last week was Wednesday, and it was pretty much constant all day long. Every other day of the week was actually kind of nice, but sometimes overcast.

Can anyone guess what day I took off work to play golf??

and here I was thinking the Irish were doing this weather dealie-O to you Brits out of the goodness of their hearts, but maybe I have been blinded by their (lucky) charms. Perhaps the Irish Druids have gathered in their groves, calling forth mighty nature magics to twist the wind patterns around the Isles, and thereby depriving your parched nation of much needed water!

Ye Gods!!! These Irish are evil, Evil I tells ya!!!

To the few irish members - EASY!! We all know this is a joke. It's the Brits who are Evil!!!
