Question Receiving a response to a post
I am new to this site. I figured out how to post my question, now I was wonder how long does it usually takes to receive an answer. I'm thinking that the response will be in the same spot that I posted the question in. Is this correct?

first off,

As far as a response time, it varies depending on what forum it is in and when you posted the question. Usally it takes less than 24 hours (90% of the time much, much less than that).

One thing however, I can not seem to find your 1st post. I do see from your post count that you did post somthing in the Win 95/98/Me forum yesterday afternoon, however no one has read it and I can not find it in the forum. If you want to repost it, we'll see what we can do. It looks like your 1st post did not take.

Once again, welcome to TSG

Your original post was I have windows ME and I am unable to run Scan Disk however it seems to have been deleted, or something else is wrong with accessing it, cause it can't be found anywhere on the board, except as attached to your name and post count.

I did see, from the first few lines of your post that you are getting the "ScanDisk has restarted 10 times . . . " message.

This usually occurs because you have something running in the background that is writing to the disk, which will cause Scandisk, and Defrag to restart.

You should disable any Screensavers, then Pres Ctrl+Alt+Del and End Task all programs running except Explorer and Systray, then run Scandisk and Defrag.

If this does not work, then boot into Safe mode and run it from there.

Take a look at
Err Msg: ScanDisk Has Restarted 10 Times Because Windows... for more information.

I will report this thread, to make the Mods aware of your missing post.

Thank-you for your help
Problem is resolved! I went to toolbars, Quick Launch closed down , set screen saver to none and press ctrl alt & delete and closed all but systray & explorer. After doing these tasks I was able to complete a Scan Disk and defrag.

Thanx All!

Glad we sorted it, even if we couldn't really find you original post.

I did get word from one of the Mods that they were looking inot what might have happened.

Thanx for letting us know that there was a problem!
