Formatting FP Message Board Article Pages
Ok, I have all the message boards working ok, but I'm STILL having a problem formatting the post/article pages. The headers and footers are fine, but how do I format the actual BODY?? I cannot find the option anywhere! Maybe because in FP there isn't one?? If that is the case, can I override this somehow by making some type of prototype for the post/article pages?? There is a prototype for the table of contents, that's why I'm thinking this might be possible for the article pages too??

Any guesses?? Please be detailed...I'm a little slow this morning!

Edit the body tag.....not sure what you mean by this. It's the same as editing any other type of body content.

Here is an example
For clarification, here is a link to one of the TOC pages.

http://www.yourcountyhomepage.com/scottmomb_toc.htm

If you notice, I managed to figure out how to format the text on that page (and every other), but if you click on one of the posts, you'll see that the text displayed is the "standard", times new roman, or the like. I can edit each post individually via the body tag, and change it, but obviously that's not a viable option in the long run!

Micro$oft support says not even to change the TOC page (duh), and has an article stating how to employ an existing theme to the post pages, but that won't work for me, since I'm not using a theme. This is the article, maybe you can derive a solution from it?? http://support.microsoft.com/default... /> us;328495

I just kept poking around FP to figure the rest of this out, and it worked, but this one I just can't find!

Thanks for your help!!

You will have to create your own theme (its not that hard). Use CSS (cascading style sheets). It allows you to define parameters of a tag and it is applied to the whole page.
For example,
body
{
font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica;
}
says all text between < body > and < /body > will use those fonts.
Create your CSS theme in Notepad, save as "file1234.css" WITH the qoutes. Then use the instructions in that MS article you posted to apply it to your page.
Here is a great CSS tutorial that will have you set pretty quickly
http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_intro.asp

You can also just edit one of FP's existing themes.

Thanks for the input Brendan....haven't had time to try this out yet, but I know I can't stand it when people don't let you know if your advice helped them or not!! So I thought I'd at least check in!

I'm leary about one thing tho....how do I ensure that this "theme" ONLY ends up on the 4 or 5 pages of the web that I want them to?? I've always stayed away from FP themes, for various (obvious to most) reasons & I just want to make sure I don't screw up the rest of the web, which is approximately 400 pages SO FAR! (applying themes is irreversible as far as I know and gave me some BIG problems when I first started out!!)

Thanks again....I'll let you know how it goes!

The theme should only apply to the pages you select, but I think you can select multiple themes.

When in doubt, make backups
