Thumbs up Microsoft .NET Alerts SDK v5.01: Developer Edition and SDK: Mar 13
Hiya

Microsoft® .NET Alerts is a message and notification routing service that makes delivering customer communications easy and helps avoid the negative perceptions associated with junk e-mail. Content providers can send messages to customers who choose to receive them. Alerts are routed to Microsoft Windows® desktops, cellular phones, wireless personal digital assistants (PDAs), or any e-mail address—all based on the customer's delivery preferences.

Getting Started
Follow these steps to get started with .NET Alerts:
Download both the .NET Alerts Software Development Kit (SDK) and the .NET Alerts Developer Edition. Using the included tools and emulators you can start building .NET Alerts applications right away.
Contact alerts@microsoft.com for a .NET Services Agreement when you're ready to start sending alerts through the live service, or to learn more about pricing and availability.
Get free support from .NET Alerts experts at the .NET Alerts Online Community.

.NET Alerts Software Development Kit (SDK)
The SDK provides several components that help you implement .NET Alerts on your Web site. These components include:

.NET Alerts Service Guide Kit Documentation—all the information you need to implement .NET Alerts.
.NET Alerts Client Library—a set of objects that simplify the creation and transmission of alerts.
.NET Alerts Image Files—buttons for your Web site, localized in a variety of languages.
.NET Alerts Sample Submission Tool—a Microsoft Visual Basic® program that uses the client library objects to create and send alerts. You can use the sample tool to send test alerts to one of the test .NET Alerts routing engines or to a .NET Alerts routing engine emulator.
Sample Subscription Mirroring Pages—a set of subscription mirroring pages is provided to enable you to test subscription mirroring functionality. Using these pages, you can enter a Microsoft .NET Passport Unique ID (PUID) and make subscription mirroring calls to a specified subscription mirroring server or emulator.

.NET Alerts Developer Edition
Microsoft .NET Alerts Developer Edition is a set of service emulators designed to work with the .NET Alerts SDK. These emulators enable developers to create and test .NET Alerts implementations locally, without interacting with the .NET Alerts Preproduction (PREP) servers. The .NET Alerts Developer Edition can also be used to create self-contained alerts demonstrations. The .NET Alerts Developer Edition includes a subscription mirroring emulator and a .NET Alerts routing engine and pop-up message emulator.

System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP

The .NET Alerts Developer Edition 5.01 requires Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) version 5.0 or later; Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.01 with Service Pack 2, or version 5.01 or later; a Web server capable of handling HTTP POST requests.
The .NET Alerts client library (DLL) requires a server running Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or Microsoft® Windows® XP.
For an optimal experience, the client computer should have either Microsoft® Windows® Messenger or MSN® Messenger installed.
