Images in Access DBs, in JavaScript
I am attempting to develop a web site, running JavaScript, server-side. I want to store data for a number of people in an Access data base. I would like visitors to upload an image. I would then store the image in the data base - one column is set up as OLE Object. And I would like to retrieve the image from the data base and display it on a web page.

There is HTML for visitor uploading files, and JavaScript for updating Access records via SQL or SQL-like strings. And there is HTML for displaying images. However, I cannot display anything but x in a little square. I suspect there is something I don't know about storage/retrieval in Access OLE Object fields.

I cannot find the information I want in either a 1000+ page Access manual or a 1000+ page JavaScript manual.

I have been able to store/retrieve via text fields, displaying correct results.

It can be done, but storing images in a database is not really a good idea. Your Access database will become huge and unweildy in a short period of time. A beeter idea would be to let them upload them to a directory on the server with an associated record in the database pointing to that file with a URL.

Rockn, thanks very much for replying. In the particular application, I'm not really concerned about swamping the data base, as I expect to have no more than 20 pictures, tops, and I'll monitor their sizes. Keeping the pics on a directory on the server is a good idea. But I can't find any information on how to store uploaded files on the server! There seem to be no documented INPUT tags to designate destination.
