problem uploading .htaccess and .htpasswd
Hi I have freeaccount on Angelfire and when I try to upload the files .htaccess and .htpasswd to my directory my ftp client says that the name is invalid. I tried it with BulletProof FTP and LeechFtp and both give same error. When I tried uploading the files thru the website uploader the files werent transfered either. Uploading the files as "htpasswd" and then renaming to .htpasswd didnt work either. Any suggestions. (I know I must be making some stupid mistake....)

More than likely a restriction set by your ISP. I thought .htaccess and .htpassword only worked on Apache servers.

How do I find out if Angelfire is running on Apache or not?
Also why would my ISP restrict this?
Is there any other way or do I have to switch hosts?

Generally most of the generic ISP's like Angelfire only allow certain files to be uploaded to their servers. More thna likely if you attempt to upload an .exe or other files that can possibly contain malicious(virus) code they will not allow you to upload it to their servers.

Nope I just uploaded an .exe file to Angelfire. So how do I found out if Angelfire disabled .htaccess or if its me who's doing something wrong?
